At ANNA we wholly believe that fashion is all about feeling great in the looks we love, as well as feeling great in who we are. But you could also say that we follow certain guidelines, too, particularly when it comes to dressing for our silhouettes. There is no better feeling than wearing a dress which you know fits and suits you perfectly, you’ll feel like you’ve hit the compliment lottery. To save yourself some time when you hit the shops, you want to know your body shape pretty well, but fear not - we have you covered right here. Check out our top dresses and styling notes for all different (and beautiful) women.

APPLE
An apple shape usually has a bigger upper body and bust, with thin legs which is consequently going to be the part of your body you really want to show off. Equally if the legs don’t do it for you, we suggest a dress with a v neckline to create an elongated illusion of the torso. A-line or empire cuts are ideal for you, we think this Hartford ‘Regente’ dress is the perfect choice - it will flow over your midsection for a flattering effect!

ATHLETIC
If your shoulders are broader than your hips or you tend to be a sort of rectangular shape, you slot in to the ‘athletic’ category. The best thing to do here is to add definition to your hips, hence focusing on creating a balance. Dresses that flare out slightly such as A-lines, are ideal for balancing out broad shoulders and giving you a more feminine silhouette. Although, make sure that there is not much layering or definition to your upper body because you don’t need it. V-neck lines work really well for you, they’ll create an illusion of narrow shoulders, so this should be your go-to neckline. DVF’s ‘Lily’ dress is the perfect piece to add a touch of femininity to your shape - it ticks all the right boxes.

HOURGLASS
The hourglass body type is the most balanced of all with a proportionate top and bottom part of the body and a well-defined waistline - if this is you, you are truly blessed. When looking for dresses, try a design that cinches in at the waist - this will be your best fit. Also a v neckline works so well for you, we think this Maison Scotch piece completely fits the criteria. You have a body to die for, so why not flaunt it?

PEAR
The pear shaped body is all in the lower part of your body. Alas, thanks to an array of celebrities including Kim Kardashian, this body is all the rage right now. You’re lucky if you naturally have a figure like this or achieved this with working out. The advantage with this body type is that you can create an illusion of an hourglass figure if styled correctly. A-line skirts or dresses with patterned or ruffled tops will add definition to the upper body and make you look great. Why not try one of Banjanan’s tropic designs, like their Iris style? Heaven.
